About Me
Hi. My name is Sean J. Jordan. I have to put the “J” initial in my name because there are several other Sean Jordans out there who are writing about topics of interest. I get their e-mail sometimes. It’s easy to get us mixed up.
So, what sets me apart? Well, for starters, I have a master’s degree in Marketing Research, and I really enjoy discussing marketing problems and solutions. Love it, in fact — so much so that I’ve started a blog to share some of my thoughts on business marketing, new product development, marketing strategy, and marketing research!
As you may have noticed, I am also the Research Director for The Research & Planning Group, a marketing research firm based out of St. Louis. I really love my job because it allows me to work on both qualitative and quantitative projects for great clients all over the world. Every project is a new frontier, and I get excited every time I have the opportunity to help a client explore how they can solve a dilemma with good, solid research.
I also have a wide variety of experience in many other fields. I’ve managed retail stores and quick-service restaurants, and even won awards for my accomplishments. I was a professional video game reviewer for a few years, and I also served as both a writer and an editor for some comic book publishers. I’ve been involved in designing and launching new products, and I even have my own small publishing company, Army Ant Publishing, which develops educational graphic novels for kids. Our first book debuts in Spring, 2010. You can find out more at http://www.codeofthewild.com.
In my free time, when I’m not chasing my dogs around or spending time with my wife, I am often engaged in creative pursuits. I’m trying to learn how to draw and how to play the banjo at the moment. I really enjoy photography, and I’ve been slowly building up my portfolio over the last year. I also love to write fiction; you can find daily scraps of my work at http://www.seanjjordan.com.
If you’re interested in my professional accomplishments, you can read all about them at http://www.linkedin.com/in/seanjjordan.
I’m a pretty down-to-Earth, transparent guy, so if you have any questions about anything, I’ll try to answer them to the best of my ability!
One final note: you’ll probably notice that unlike a lot of marketing professionals who set up blogs, I’m not actively trying to sell you anything. See, I believe that the spirit of the Web is to share, not to sell, and that we should all commit some of our free time to offering our knowledge to others.
I’m sure I’ll meet some people through this blog who are looking for someone to conduct some marketing research, and if you’re one of them, I’ll be thrilled to work with you on whatever you’ve got. But I expect that most of my readers are going to be just that -readers – and I would much rather have some good conversation going on this blog than scare everyone off by making a sales pitch to everyone who comments.
Need to know more? You can always e-mail me at sjordanATresearchplanDOTcom. Be sure you mention that you read this blog. I’ve always got time to talk to my readers.
